river + city views over drinks @ stokebar |
firstly, a massive thankyou to everyone who has supported buzz so far. all those who have run, walked and ridden their way around the city, for the sake of a couple of dollars and a chat. i have had a great month, catching up with people, meeting new ones... and i can't wait to do it all again this month!
on tuesday, in the full mugginess of a brisbane summer evening we ran and walked our way around the river before celebrating a month of buzz (and a proper birthday as well!) with drinks at stokebar. this morning i donated the other $73 of our kitty to bowel + cancer research trust. thanks again for the support- crc (colorectalcancer) is the cancer with the second highest incidence rate in australia and one that is particularly close to my heart and important to my family. if anyone wants to find out more about the work they do or donate more online you can do it easily (and get a tax receipt) via their website.
moving onto december and what is happening in the next month... after some suggestions from the buzz crew we have decided on aief- the australian indigenous education foundation as our fundraising charity for dececmber. aief does work in supporting our indigenous kids, providing scolarships and education pathways that enable access to world class education and career options. again, check their website for more info (or to donate!) and pics of happy kids with huge smiles- let's try and help see some more of those! we'll kick off our december fundraising with our usual river ride tomorrow morning- meet @ 6am @ the goodwill bridge.
a couple of dates for the diary- lock in your tuesday evenings and friday mornings this month for buzz- gotta work off the mince pies and christmas drinks somehow, right?!
most importantly, lock in tuesday 20 december for our final run/walk of the year- we'll celebrate with our end of month drinks, and a bbq as well, to get festive for the final week of work for the year.
thanks again for all the ongoing support (and for reading what has become a rather lengthy blog post- sorry!). as always, feel free to spread the word! we are open to everyone- all abilities + ages + we especially love meeting new people!
see you on a tuesday or friday soon! buzz :)
